News of the Gaming World! 29th December 2012

December might not be the biggest time for new games but as we all know it is a time to buy games at discount prices even though it will destroy the interior of your wallet.

And yes, these sort of pieces might not be regular on my site but I will try to make it more common sight...on my site.

Horrible puns aside here are the headlines in the gaming world today.

Aliens: Colonial Marines Has A New Trailer

The trailer basically shows the happenings of the new game by Gearbox Software. It pays great homage to the fans of the film by giving the same sense of helplessness against the dark and the massive hordes of Xenomorphs. Not much can be said about the trailer other than it tries it best to convey fear to the gamer but in the end you are a marine armed to the teeth in high tech weaponry which as we all know diminishes the sense of fear greatly.

Everyone Can Hear You Cuss in Dead Space 3

Dead Space 3 Will Know When You Swear

To the folk who have a Kinect and enjoy Dead Space and swearing like a truck driver your prayers have been answered.

"There are commands where you might be in a certain situation and you might yell a specific expletive and it might behave in a way that you want it to." said Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis. I enjoy it when game developers try their best to find some new fangled way to condone the existence of the Kinect but all this is in the end is a gimmick to try to make the game scarier than it actually is. Now in all honesty I see this whole swear mechanic more at home on Black Ops 2.

War Z Developer Apologizes For Everything

To the uninitiated the game known as War Z was released on Steam not too long ago to some serious heat, everything from unfair bans to false advertising have cursed the game to the point that the game was pulled off the download service indefinitely . To make things worse Sergey Titov (the producer of the game) has not been to wise on his choices of words . So he recently released a long email clarifying his position and admitted to the problems of the game at hand. Titov tries his best in cooling off the immense heat that has come upon his game in recent weeks and as a person who has not played the game I will give him and his studio a chance to pick themselves up from the ashes.

Also as a sidenote Sergey Titov also help make this gem of the gaming world.

The End of an Era

Sony Stops Shipping Playstation 2 in Japan

Now we all know of the PS2, that big black box thing that played great games, DVDs and was to some of us at least the first example of online play. My PS2 has been retired for about 6 or 7 years now and is sadly collecting dust under my bed. I still remember all the hours I wasted on trying to beat the boss on Ratchet and Clank or getting shot at in GTA: San Andreas. Now the PS2 is a very long lived console being launched in Japan in 2000 and it has been supported very well since then by Sony. The last game for the console will launch in early 2013 which will give the Playstation 2 a 13 year life cycle which when it comes to technology is considered to be a massive life span. So now I will dust off my PS2, I will wipe it down and then I will box it up and thus I will give it a retirement worth its stature in not only the gaming world but the technology world in general.

CatZilla Has Been Unleashed

Now I admit today is a slow news day being the last Saturday of the year and all but I could not resist in sharing this piece of news with you my readers.

This game is about a city destroying giant cat with laser eyes facing off against a schoolgirl in a gas mask...seriously analyze what I wrote and if you do not want the game now after seeing the above video you must be quite mad.

So there you have it folks the last article of the Nerd Agenda for the year 2012. It has been a great ride so far and all I can say is "2013 bring it on!"

Also this is the interior of my wallet after the Steam Winter Sales.

Damn you Gabe Newelll...damn you and your blasphemous sales!
